Bush Orienteering

Bush Orienteering involves using a map and compass to navigate a set course in bushland. It involves learning to navigate both on and off tracks, using both compass and map.

Bayside Kangaroos has a long history of participation in Bush Orienteering as well as Victorian and Australian championships. Courses vary in length and difficulty, allowing you to choose one to suit your ability. We have a coaching program to introduce new orienteers to the skills of bush navigation.

The season usually runs from April to November each year with events in state forest and national parks.
Events are held over Sprint (short), Middle and Long distances as well as an annual relay between all Victorian clubs.

MelBushO events are the perfect way to get started in bush orienteering without travelling far from Melbourne.

Victorian Autumn Bush series and the Victorian Spring Bush series are held across the region and provide the opportunity to experience the excitement of navigating some of Victoria’s best forests.
